Background
Alex Fieldcamp was born and raised in New York City, where he still lives. He attended St. Bernard’s School, Loyola and Groton for his early education. Fieldcamp’s interest in finance and markets led him to Cornell University where he majored in Applied Economics, with a concentration in Finance, at the undergraduate business school. To date his career has been in finance, having held positions at a large investment management company as well as boutique investment banks.
Alex Fieldcamp is proud that his mother is a Cuban immigrant, who came to the US at a young age to start a new life. Fieldcamp has had the opportunity to visit his family in Cuba several times, where he was able to learn more about his roots. On one of his trips he even traveled by car from Havana to Santiago across the length of the Cuban island – a journey that he remembers vividly to this day.
Philanthropy
Alex Fieldcamp is a member of the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs, which is based in New York and works to identify the most pressing ethical issues facing international business and politics. Members of the Carnegie Council bring together global experts to discuss and develop ethically sound solutions to ethical issues and educate audiences around the world on global ethics.
In addition to his work with the Carnegie Council, Alex Fieldcamp has served as a long-term volunteer with the New York Common Pantry, an organization dedicated to reducing hunger in NYC. Volunteers at the New York Common Pantry take on many roles, including working hands-on to provide hot meals to people in need, stocking food pantries to help families stock their kitchens, and working special events.
Alex Fieldcamp has also been involved with El Museo del Barrio and its Young Members Committee. El Museo is one of the few institutions in New York City that exclusively promotes the art and culture of Latin artists in the US as well as Latin American artists.
Recreation
Alexander Fieldcamp has been a competitive athlete and avid sports fan since childhood. A lifelong Knicks fan, Fieldcamp doesn't just enjoy watching basketball — he loves to play as well. He was a captain on his high school team, and currently plays in weekend recreational leagues.
In addition to spending time on the basketball court, Alex Fieldcamp is also a movie buff who is knowledgeable and passionate about films, both old and new. He hopes to start a blog that allows him to share his love for the silver screen with others.
